ExtraCurricular & Co-Curricular Ensembles

These groups meet outside of the school day and are sponsored by the Cape Fear Band Boosters.

There is a cost associated with all extra and co-curricular ensembles.

Marching Band

This is the largest and most visible component of the Cape Fear Band program. Auditions are in May (guard and percussion), a mini-camp is held in June, and the main part of the season runs from July with the start of camp through November with the last competitions. The marching band also marches in 1-3 Christmas Parades in November and December. The marching band practices two times per week and performs at all football games and 4-5 local and regional competitions. There are weekend obligations, including most weekends in October and early November. (Reference season calendar for specific days and times)

Winter Percussion

This is an extension of the percussion section in the marching band. The Winter Percussion season runs from December through March. Membership is open to any band student in Cumberland County (our group is called the Cumberland County Combined Percussion Ensemble but is housed at Cape Fear HS), as well as eighth graders. Non-percussionists are eligible to audition for Indoor Percussion, as long as the student is committed to continuing to advance in their musicianship on their primary instrument as well as their participation in the percussion ensemble.
